Wulverblade Scoops ‘People’s Choice Best Indie Game’ Award at Play Expo!

Hey Everyone,

Just thought I’d update the blog with this bit of now slightly outdated news. Back in October I took Wulverblade to Play Expo 2014 in Manchester to a crowd of over 20,000 people! For those who don’t know the expo, its a retro and arcade focused show with a now massively growing indie section too! This year they ran a ‘People Choice Best Indie Award’ where the attendees of the show got to vote on their favourite new game…and guess what…Wulverblade won! YYYYYYEY!

The show was insane and the stand was packed for the entire 2 days. You can read the full right up with loads of photos over on the Wulverblade blog and you can also see a quick glimpse below as well as a photo of my incredibly overjoyed (and rather stupid looking) face :)

The Babadook and Book of Dark Sketches…

November 20, 2014

Hey Everyone,

Well after being inspired by Inktober and also going to see what was probably the best contemporary horror movie in many years, The Babadook, I decided to start doing a few dark themed sketches.

This is my cartoon take on the Babadook, a little fan art if you will!

This dude was originally in colour but I much preferred him in black and white :)

And this little chibi slasher needs to be taken further, I can see many uses for this little dude!

Anyway, hope you like this little deviation from my usual stuff, I’m certainly enjoying it!

Thanks again.

Mike.

#Inktober – My sketches for the month

Hey Everyone,

Between Wulverblade and my project work I find little time for anything else these days, but when I got talked into joining the #inktober movement on Twitter this October, it was time to dig out my old ink pens!

Its been so many years, over 10 in fact, since I last worked with ink, so to say I was rusty was an understatement. By the time the last image was done (one at the end) I’d even gone so far as to start dabbling with ink markers again, something I haven’t touched in even longer! Anyway, it was super fun playing around with real media again and something I intend to continue with! Hope you like them!

Bolton Abbey

I wanted to achieve a really 'movie' look with this one, kinda 300'ish.

Project Galaxia

This was an epic project! Branding and interface design for a new futuristic iPhone SciFi MMORPG! As most of you know, I love sci-fi so this was going to rock!!
