The Fully Illustrated Blog

The site is quiet but there’s LOTS going on!

February 16, 2017

Hey Everyone,

You may have noticed that the site has been sat without any updates for a good few months now, sorry about that! Reason being is that there is a LOT going on behind the scenes. Alongside the multitude of great projects that I’m working on I’m also working on the all new version of this website! Added to that is the upcoming release of Wulverblade too! 5yrs of hard work is getting ever closer to completion and 2017 is going to be an insane year!

  • Projects: I’m working on a vast array of projects right now including some fab new mobile games, a console horror game and a swathe of fun branding, UI and website projects too. Its crazy busy at the moment. I’ve got about 15 new projects to add to the site including the UI work for Farming Simulator 2017!
  • New Site: The all new version of Fully Illustrated is well into development now and just needs the content adding, a few final features adding and final testing. When the new site launches its going to be 100% mobile friendly and rammed with all sorts of new and exciting content. I can’t wait to share it with you all.
  • Wulverblade: After 5 years of love and attention Wulverblade is now on the final stretch. We’ve completed all the levels and are now going back through to put all the finishing touches in, final content and testing. There is lots of news on this front to come soon so watch this space.

And last but not least, 2017 marks Fully Illustrated’s 10 year anniversary and what a year its going to be.

Thanks for following the site for so many years!

Mike.

2016 Is Going To Be A BIG One!

February 2, 2016

Hey Everyone!

Well, my posts over the last year have been abysmal, I’ve neglected the site too much for too long. 2016 is set to be a MASSIVE year for Fully Illustrated and I intend to keep you all updated along the way.

Firstly, this site is now nearly a decade old…A DECADE…so as you can well imagine, its driving me insane. I want to entirely overhaul Fully Illustrated and bring you a much richer, cross platform modern experience. One that doesnt feel like a, well, 10 year old website ha haa.  So stay tuned, there will be a new look and a whole new brand overhaul for Fully Illustrated later this year and I promise you, it will be worth the wait. I’m going to give it everything I’ve got!

But before that happens!…

WULVERBLADE will be launching this year on Xbox One and Steam and this will be the outcome of nigh on 4 years of passion and just about every last penny I own (and some that I don’t) ha. This project has been my dream for so many years and its so close to completion now, I can almost taste it! There will be so much to see from a creative perspective, illustration, animation, UI design, branding, icon design, motion graphics, you name it. Absolutely every skill I have (and didn’t have at the start of the project) will be on show with this project.  I can’t wait to get it into the hands of players around the world.

So, in a nutshell, that’s it, only two things, but boy are those two things big in my little world :)

Take care everyone and keep your eyes peeled, I’ll be updating regularly from now on.

Mike.

Why so quiet? Wulverblade is why!

April 17, 2015

Hey Everyone!

Wow, my once regularly updated website and blog hasn’t been attended to in months. Shameful!

Well, as you guessed, I’ve been über busy with both Wulverblade and my contract work. I’ve just added a few updates to my design section and dropped in a few Wulverblade illustrations in the illustration section. I’ve got looooooads of projects in the works at the moment, most of which are yet to be released. These include new games, UI projects, websites, brand designs you name it. All will be updated as they get released.

In short I’ve never been this busy in my entire life. Running the production of your dream game for your dream format (Xbox One if I haven’t already mentioned that a thousand times ha haa) and also running your beloved little company is quite the time challenge. I’m in SUCH a lucky position that the work I love and do as Fully Illustrated funds the production of my own game. I have to pinch myself at times just see if this is all real.

So in short work is still going on feverishly as I fulfil my clients needs and continue to craft Wulverblade, but worry not, updates will keep coming. Once the game is ready to launch I will be able to FLOOD the illustration section with more work than you’ve ever witnessed ;)

Here’s a sneaky sample of one of Wulverblade’s levels…

The site has been quiet for too long!

August 11, 2014

Hey guys,

Apologies for a silent site for about 4 months now, things have been beyond busy. I’ve got about a bazillion new projects to add to the site and will be doing over the coming weeks.  I’ve just added a few projects for now, all of which have been soooooo much fun to work on, and I’ll have more very soon.

Going from my stats you awesome folks keep checking back regularly and I’ve been a bit crap and not given you anything new to look at, sorry about that. Reason for the silence? Just too much on to be honest. Between all my project work and Wulverblade, finding time for site updates has been so, so hard.

Thanks again!

Mike.

Wulverblade coming to Xbox One!

March 18, 2014

wulverblade-coming-to-xbox-one

Wulverblade is coming to Xbox One and is playable at GDC!

Yep, you heard that right, my life long dream game is getting a life long dream format, a leading games console, WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

We’ve known about this for a little while, so you can imagine our uncontrollable excitement about wanting to tell the world. And now, as of today, Microsoft have officially announced it, we are SOOOOO excited. So, so, excited.

Play it this week at GDC!

The best bit is, if you happen to be at GDC, head over to the Unity booth (South Hall Expo – Booth 1402) where you can not only see Wulverblade in action, but you can get to play it on the Xbox One, right there!

Click here for a map of where to find it

It is in a very early pre Alpha state, but you’ll get a good feel for the basics of the game. Brian and Colin are there too, so hit them up if you wanna chat about the game at any point. If you get a chance to swing by, please drop up us a comment as we’d love to hear your thoughts!

And a BIG THANKS to the guys at Unity for the showcase, you guys rock!

Screenshots Now and Trailer Coming Soon

Now, some of you may already know that I (Mike) got struck down with appendicitis last week and after a couple of operations am now recovering for a couple of weeks, so that’s stopped me both being there and getting the in-game trailer complete. ULTRA GUTTED! But, I’m going to show off two screenshots from the game here which will hopefully wet your appetite for the trailer. Once I’m back on my feet I’ll have it ready ASAP.

SO EXCITED!

Busy, Busy, Busy.

February 7, 2014

Hey Everyone,

WOW, September was the last time I posted anything on the site…this is shocking!

In short, things are insanely busy at the moment. 85% of this years available space has already been booked up, which is fantastic, but also crazy at the same time. I cant believe how far in advance everyone is planning in 2014. No complaints though.

My current projects are amazing too, lots of really, really exciting stuff to show over the coming months. And there is SO much more coming this year, its ace.

I’ve got a bazillion new projects to add to the site including UI design, character design, branding, site design, motion graphics you name it, but time is against me as I’m also trying to juggle the new re-design of the site as well…oh, and then there’s also a little something called Wulverblade too ;) Wulverblade has a whopping 12 people on board now, all working busily in their own areas, art, animation, dev, sound, voice overs, cut scenes…wow.

So in short, expect to see looooooooooooooooads of new work and hopefully, if the gods of time feel kind enough to bestow me with some free time, an entirely new Fully Illustrated too.

More to come soon.

Mike.

Wulverblade Trailer 2 Weeks On

January 7, 2013

Hey Guys,

Even though I launched the teaser so close to Christmas/New Year, it appears to have been pretty popular so far, so thanks for all the tweets, emails, DM’s etc! The trailer has been watched about 1400 times over the past 2 weeks, which isn’t too bad considering most people were off enjoying the holidays.

Here it is in case you missed it…

A very kind chap named Sanku over on the Touch Arcade Forums posted about the trailer too which was great, and around 1000 folks have checked that out!  Take a read if you fancy and please feel welcome to say hello!

I’ve not done any formal press for the teaser, so I was surprised to see that it had been picked up by a few sites all on its own!

So, thanks again for all the interest so far, I cant wait to show you all more! There is SOOOOOOO much to show over the coming months, I cant wait!

Mike.

Busy Busy Busy

May 18, 2011

Hey Everyone,

It’s been a fair while since my last proper post (bar the flowery photos a couple of weeks ago) as I’ve been consumed with project work (more so than normal).

There has been SO much going on behind the scenes as I’ve got my head deeply implanted in a few new games! Exciting stuff!

The main projects that have been consuming my time are a kick ass facebook game for the guys over at Aranim, a suuuper exciting game for the guys at Thunder Game Works and some more epic MMO action for the Haypi team.

I’ve been lucky enough to spend the VAST majority of this time illustrating too.  To give you a rough idea, I’ve probably put together something like 50 new characters over the past few months, people, soldiers, zombies, animals, monsters, dragons, you name it, it’s been bloody marvellous!  I also got to try my hand at matte painting on two separate projects too, something I’ve always fancied a pop at.  It was a steep learning curve but I was exceptionally happy with the final results…I just need the respective projects to launch so I can release them :)

Add into this lots of other smaller projects and you can expect some rather epic updates to FI over the coming months.  I genuinely cannot wait to get all these things out into the public eye!

The other very exciting sideline project I’m cooking up is Fully Illustrated’s first dedicated iPad app!  But watch this space for a dedicated blog post about that soon, it’s shaping up rather nicely!  And note the word app, not game ;)

Catch you all soon.

Mike.

Hello 2011!

January 11, 2011

Happy New Year everyone!

Wow, what a fantastic year 2010 was!  I can’t believe it’s over already, it seems to have come and gone in the blink of an eye.

I’m looking back at 2010 to try and pick out a particular highlight (other than the obvious one of becoming a dad!), but I have to say that I was blessed last year with so many superb projects and opportunities.  I guess what’s needed here is a HUGE THANK YOU to all my kick ass clients!  Guys, you all rock and keep me smiling from ear to ear :)

2011 promises some amazing new events for Fully Illustrated too, a lot of which are focused around the iPhone and iPad, but I’m also very excited about my new relationship with the legends that are Microsoft Game Studio.  The Neosaurs project was one hell of a way to end 2010, it’s given me a lot to strive for this year.  I also can’t wait to announce some other BIG relationships that I’ve got in the mix at the moment.  Once I’m able to officially announce more I surely will! I know that sounds very cloak and dagger, but NDA’s have the last word in my book ;)

And last but most surely not least, a big thanks to all the wonderful people that visit Fully Illustrated so often and are kind enough to drop me a mail, it’s great to see you returning on such a regular basis.  I’ll try my level best to keep the site as regularly updated as its always been.

Here’s to an exciting 2011!!!

Mike.

The Completed Arcade!

October 6, 2010

Hey Everyone,

I know I’ve been talking about this almost none stop recently and haven’t posted the final photos, but that’s because I’m too fussy, and am re-art-working the machine as we speak ;)

But, just to appease a few folks, I decided to show the machine as it is now, before I apply the new artwork.  As you’ll see, the room my two machines live in, is our tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiny spare box room, just wide enough for two arcade cabs, a bookshelf and little else.  Perfect for a miniature arcade :)

I’ve decided to make the new machine a mock Neo Geo MVS cab, so its going to be a beautiful mix of rich red, black and white…very old school.  Anyway, here’s a few pics of my babies running.  Awwww, dont they look cute together :)

Oh and I’ve gone even crazier since the last post as I got the chance to pick up some truly amazing original arcade boards in bulk…so I bought them…and blitzed that already depleted budget into non-existence ;)  The collection now sits a little something like this…

  • Art of Fighting
  • Fatal Fury
  • Fatal Fury 2
  • Fatal Fury Special
  • The King of the Fighters 94
  • The King of the Fighters 2001
  • Metal Slug
  • Metal Slug 2
  • Samurai Showdown
  • Samurai Showdown 2
  • World Heroes
  • R-Type 2
  • R-Type Leo
  • Caddilacs and Dinosaurs
  • Golden Axe
  • Knights of the Round
  • Street Fighter 2 – Champion Edition
  • Super Street Fighter 2 X
  • Street Fighter Alpha 2
  • Darkstalkers
  • Vampire Saviour 2
  • X-Men Children of the Atom
  • Carrier Airwing

I’ll post the final, final, final pics when the new artwork is applied and finished :)

Mike.
