Bladeslinger Icon Design
The brief:
I've been working with Kerosene Games on the Bladeslinger promotional materials for some time now and it was great to start work on the icon design, as lets face it, icon design can be rather fun! The brief was fairly open as Kerosene wanted to experiment with a handful of ideas and have them all user tested to see which one's would be the most effective. So I was given a healthy block of time to come up with a selection of concepts.
The solution:
The final icon (the 1st one here) was selected based off the user feedback and we slowly but sure tailored the design down to a fine point. We played around with a vast range of directions from dark blood thirsty zombies, to light and bright ideas too. The final design is something of a half way house between the two extremities and really pop's when viewed on the iPhone's little screen. It was such a luxury to have experimentation time and I'm very, very thankful to Kerosene for allowing me such a luxury! If you haven't already, go grab a copy of the game as its breathtaking!
