Being a fan of almost everything sci-fi related, when I got offered the chance of designing the new Miner Wars website I got somewhat excited...as I always do! The brief was great, take a glimpse of the game and reflect it in the site to the best of your ability. And with the fantastic assets that I'd been provided with, this was going to be a visual feast!
As the game is set in both space and within vast mine shaft networks, I wanted to ensure that this site felt different from your usual space themed shooter site. So I opted to focus mainly on the tunnelling element and enclose the ships within one of the many awesome looking tunnel environments. I was provided with lots of fantastic scene renders, ship renders and other various elements, so I started working up the main scene. I wanted to portray a feeling of pure action all tied up within the tight confines of these huge mine shafts, so by bringing together a selection of the amazing ships and having them all zooming toward the camera, it made for an epic background setting to the site. From here, I then worked up all the page elements and tied it all together with a futuristic, yet gritty overall feel. Great stuff!
Whilst I was down at Turbary for the Eagle shoot, I also snapped a few shots of Bo the Barn Owl too.
The Quickfingers project was an ace chance to play around with a little old school vector grid style! A style I’ve been wanting to play with for a while! Ace project!
