Natural Selection 2 – Full Site and Forums

The brief:

After having the pleasure of finishing the microsite for Natural Selection 2 I was due to move onto the full site and forum re-design, so the brief, while simple (follow the same styling throughout), was also a challenge as I had the forums to tackle...but this was going to be more fun than you could imagine! Why? I was informed to go wild with the design and not to worry about the development implications as their forum coders were super talented!

The solution:

As the style for this entire site was set due to recently completing the microsite, it was the fun task of taking that style and applying it to something much more complex. This whole process went smoothly and we soon had the full site finished and looking good. The final step was the big one, the forums. NS2 has a HUGE community, many of which have been loyal to the brand for many, many years. Ensuring the community would be happy was the core goal.

As the team had some great forum coders on hand, the design was allowed a lot of creative freedom, so every element could be totally redesigned from the ground up without any limitations! This was easily the best forum brief I've ever had! Needless to say with with a mixture of an open brief and few limitations, it came together very quickly.

If you've not already seen the game I strongly suggest you check it out, its probably the most technically ambitious Inide game to date and it squares off against any AAA FPS with ease. Its a true masterpiece!

This was a great little branding project for another one of the cool little Blurst games, 'Crane Wars'
