When I was first contacted by the guys from Havoc about their new project, swrve, I got rather excited! I mean, let’s face it, who in the games industry hasn’t heard of Havoc! I was all ears! They already had the swrve brand in place, something that had been worked up at an earlier stage, but they’d decided that they would like it to be accompanied by a character, something to lighten the brands appearance and give off a more friendly vibe. I couldn’t wait! The hummingbird was the core focus of the ideas as it encapsulated their core message, so it was time for me to create it! And what a wonderful creature to visualise.
With the brand character finalised, the tone of the swrve brand was now set and we were ready to start work on their all new teaser site. The guys wanted something that gave the hummingbird a place in space, so for the teaser site we decided to work up a forest/jungle environment for him to exist in...great fun! The visual tone for the site came into existence very naturally as it just flowed on from the hummingbird. We thought that adding in a little parallax scrolling would also add to the depth, and with the wondrous code magic of Adam over at www.codefor.com we were set! Keep your eyes peeled for the full site very soon!
These were great fun, based on the loose concept of lego people. These were created for the Discover alive project. There were 100's of activities for many different subjects. These characters helped the kids stay entertained throughout ;) Awesome fun!
Yey, another little appearance in Web Designer Magazine! I was invited to do a quick article about how I use Photoshop for the web and how valuable it is to me as a designer. As Photoshop is my main tool it seemed like the perfect thing to be writing about!
