Web Designer Magazine Feature
Yey, another little appearance in Web Designer Magazine! I was invited to do a quick article about how I use Photoshop for the web and how valuable it is to me as a designer. As Photoshop is my main tool it seemed like the perfect thing to be writing about! So I outlined just how much I rely on it, how I use it and in particular, just how important it is working with games related websites. Apologies for the face, not a lot I can do about that part ;)

The Web Designers Idea Book – By Patrick McNeil
Back in 2007 I was approached by Patrick McNeil from none other than the very popular design site, Design Meltdown, to appear in his book ‘The Web Designers Idea Book’ in the ‘black’ themed section, that was due to go on sale in late 2008. I was really, really excited by this, as at that point I had never been published before, but could barely wait a whole year for the book to be published. Low and behold a whole year passed and the book got released, and what a book it is, cram packed with a great mix of stuff. Great work Patrick!!

Zeixs – Websites 2 – Book Entry
I could not believe my luck when I got contacted by Zeixs. I was asked if I would like to be published in the next Websites book...aptly named Websites 2...OMG yes was my response to that! I’ve been lucky enough to land a few appearances in magazines (one more on the way too...keep your eyes peeled next month ;) but to actually make it into such an awesome hard back inspiration book...I cannot stress how pleased I am...I’m grinning like a Cheshire cat! The book is great, it’s a compact design crammed with some great stuff!

GEN – .NET Magazine – Issue 182 Build Off
This was great fun once again. It’s been a while since the last build off for NET mag, so I was overjoyed to be presented with the chance of doing another one. This time it was for an energy provider. As this is a rather stale subject, I wanted to inject a little politics and passion into the equation, so rather than take the usual approach I created a fictitious company called GEN (Or Green Energy in full) toward the earthy folk of the world and show how a design could house some real personality and appeal to people on a level higher than simply ‘being the cheapest’. I already had a few emails from people regarding the article (thanks everyone...and no it's not been to complain about my stupid photo ;) so it looks as though it's struck a really positive chord, which is ace, just what I wanted.

The Creative Unity – Volume 1 – Featured Designer
This was a great opportunity that arose late 2008, where I was approached by the publishers of this new creative inspiration book series, the Creative Unity, to appear in their first volume as none other than their featured designer! If that wasn’t enough to bowl me over, I was then told that I had the first 6 pages of the book! I was rather taken aback by this, but promptly bit their hand off and got busy preparing some work. As it’s what I love most, I decided to focus only on illustration and photography, and put together a huge collage of my characters for the first page (which you can see in detail on the illustration page on this site). It was a real honor to be asked to appear in a such a way and I wish the guys at the Creative Unity a lot of luck for 2009! Thanks guys!

Web Designer Magazine – Issue 136 – Feature
Awesome! I received an email from someone recently stating that they had come across my site “thanks to Web Designer Magazine”...What? I immediately asked the guy if he meant that I was in a magazine, but to which I never received a response. Needless to say at the VERY next opportunity me and my good friend Vix ran (well I ran she laughed) toward the nearest WH Smiths. There it was, Web Designer Magazine sat on the shelf. We started thumbing through from the back...nothing. I was starting to feel dismayed, page 100, page 80, page 40, page 20, oh no it isn't in damn it...then all of a sudden, Vix says 'Oh my god, turn to page 14' and there it was a bloody full page feature! This is possibly one of the coolest moments in my life. Suuuuuperb! Thanks to whomever at Imagine publishing decided my site was good enough to be featured!

COCOS 2D
This was a great little illustration job! Cocos 2D is a kick ass framework for creating 2D iPhone games, one that Chris (the development half of our new independent games company, more info on that coming soon :) discovered in the early stages of creating our first iPhone game.
Mount Kare – Gold Rush
This site was quite an honour to do, it’s a promotional site to cover Andi Flowers story about the Mount Kare Gold Rush and was a chance to create a site that felt real, texture rich and passionate. I can really recommend reading this book as it’s an amazing insight into what actually happened.
